Update on where we are with cricket for the different groups for the New Year

Here's a great photo from the 'Keyworth Kestrels' who have been playing in an indoor league this autumn as a pilot scheme. Big thanks to Graham Holley for his efforts on this, and for all players and parents for their cooperation and assistance in what has been a real success - and so scope for up to 3 teams playing in this next year?

In terms of winter cricket, so far the women's soft ball team have been training at South Wolds, as have the Super 1s disability cricket group.

We have also had another pilot scheme running of first team squad members of 25 or under at Trent Bridge. This is specifically looking at the performance end of the club, and after promotion in 2021, how to best prepare ourselves for our first season in Division B since 2013. This is a quite deliberately aspirational and small group, so if you or your offspring has not yet been involved in it, rest assured, they will be well and truly on the radar already, and those who work hard will get their chance at some stage over the winter or into the summer. This looks set to be a key feature of our performance cricket development plan, and the emphasis is on 1-1 development. Big thanks to Louis Bhabra and Connor Marshall for working with the group there.

All these groups are scheduled to continue in January.

Primary Age Soft Ball cricket will commence at South Wolds school indoor hall on Monday 24 January for 10 weeks (excluding March 7 & 14 when the Hall is closed), so going on until the Monday before Easter (April 11).

We will come back with full details of the winter schedule for the remaining groups either just before or just after New Year's Day:
Junior Mixed Hardball
Girls Hardball
Seniors
Women's Hardball

Our original 'Clubnight' of 5pm-10pm on a Thursday night at Trent Bridge to cover all these areas, was unfortunately thrown off track when the 5-8pm sessions were unilaterally withdrawn. We have been in touch with multiple venues and have secured about 80% of what we have been aiming for so far. We are seeing what else we can secure and it may be a case of us having to improvise slightly for the remaining 20% of what we want, while making bookings for 2022/23 incorporating other venues into our plan in advance.

EVERYONE WILL GET THE OPPORTUNITY FOR WINTER TRAINING.

Until then, have a fantastic Christmas one and all!
